Before I answer this question, let me just say that there is more to social media than just selling stuff. Every business is different and I am a firm believer that every business needs a minimal presence on social media.

Also, I’d like to mention I am hosted a webinar specifically on selling with social media marketing. It’s free and you can register here.

Here’s a bunch of reasons businesses might have to be on social media that are not necessarily about selling. At least not as the primary function.

  • Customer service
  • Branding
  • SEO
  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Building a user community
  • Finding employees
  • Being easily accessible
  • Because your prospects and customers expect it
  • Flaming people you don’t like

Ok, one of those may not be real. And there are certainly other reasons I am missing here for the sake of keeping it short and sweet.

I just want to make sure you understand, social media marketing is much more than a sales tool. But wouldn’t it be great if you could generate new business from it too?

… And yes, you certainly can!

But really the answer to this is both yes and no. To put it simply; social media won’t do the selling for you.

And this is the big problem. Many people simply forget that social media is just another platform. It can be no more effective than any other media platform, online or offline.

Dan Kennedy says to make the sale you must have the right message, to the right market using the right media. Unfortunately most people skip right to the media and forget the rest. They ALL need to work together. And that is not as easy as it sounds.

What this means is you can’t just slap a cat picture up on social media (or any media for that matter), and expect sales. You have to be strategic. You have to follow a process. You have to craft a message that gets to the key pain point of the perfect customer.

Free Webinar: Selling With Social Media

You’re invited to attend live (or watch the replay) where I will share the tried and true system for making sales on social. Whether you’re selling B2B or B2C, these same rules apply.

This isn’t a webinar on how to get more followers or likes. I’m not going to teach you how to automate posts, make viral cat videos, make Snapchat stories or any other flavor of the month tactic.

This is specifically going to show you exactly how to use social media to generate leads and convert them to customers or clients.
